Using this method of food choice, you have to believe that there are no 'in-between' foods. What you choose to eat is either GOOD or BAD. 'In-between' gives you one heck of a leeway in the direction of success or disaster, usually the latter. You already have the knowledge to know what is generally good and what is generally bad for you.
Mentally process everything put in front of you in a split second. If you want to get back into shape it does not have to be all gym, gym, gym, why don't you lose weight by doing activities you enjoy. Most types of sports evolve some type of physical activity and is a great way to shed some pounds. If you want to lose weight you must burn off more energy than you consume on a day to day basis. This is why doing sports is good for losing some weight as it uses a lot of energy. Tennis, football, rugby, hockey, or any type of sport where you can burn off some energy and work up a sweat is all good for weight loss. In Part 1 of this series, I explained how the only way to permanently lose weight is to change your lifestyle. "Dieting" will almost always result in an initial loss of weight (both fat and lean muscle) however, once you go off your diet you will rapidly gain back the weight you lost. In addition, since your body is designed to protect itself from a lack of calories, it will also put on additional stores of body fat. The old adage "one step forward, two steps back" applies to this type of "yo-yo" dieting.
I also discussed your Basic Metabolic Rate (BMR) and how that plays into your weight loss plan. If you go on any type of extreme diet, your body will simply lower its BMR even further in order to survive. The goal is to increase your BMR not decrease it.
So, you're probably asking, "How can I possibly eat 5-6 meals a day and still lose weight?" By eating more frequent, yet smaller meals, you are allowing your body to maintain if not increase its BMR. Also, you will avoid insulin spikes that happen when you eat only once or twice a day.
Below is a sample diet for one day. You can alter this, play around with it but with a little planning, you can stick to this while you aim for your desired weight:
Sample Diet For One Day
Assuming a weight of 220lb
Breakfast:
4 eggs scrambled (Only use 1 yolk) using non stick spray- 145 Calories
1 piece of whole grain toast with butter substitute-Approx 100 calories
8 oz NON fat milk-90 calories
1 piece of fruit: (Banana-Approx 110 calories)
(Apple-Approx 80 calories)
Total calories: Approximately 300-400
Mid Morning Snack
Nutrition bar (Balance bar-Approx 200 calories)
Lunch:
Chicken breast, no skin, baked or broiled.
Salad (lettuce, cucumber, any salad type veggie..NO cheese)
with olive oil and vinegar or NONFAT dressing: About 150-200 calories
Total calories: 350-400 calories
Mid Afternoon Snack
Balance bar or
1-2 oz of lightly salted cashews-Approx 250-300 calories or
One serving of low carb protein drink
Dinner:
4-8 oz Ground turkey (lean) burgers, no cheese-Approx 160-320 calories
Salad as per lunch-150-200 calories
Serving of veggies such as cauliflower, broccoli, grean beans etc-50 calories
Approx 350-550 calories
Snack before bed:

Diet Popsicles
No carbs 2-3 hours before bed other than veggies with dinner!!!

Read something inspiring!
It could be a biography, quote, poem, or song. Use other peoples experiences to give you that lift.
Start a walking group!
It's more social and you all get to feed off the motivation of each other.
Think of exercise as a menu rather than a diet!
Make a list of activities and choose 1 each day.
Use a training journal!
By keeping track of your activities you can see the improvements in your fitness week to week.
Start an interest or hobby that requires physical fitness!
It could be bushwalking, rock-climbing, tennis, golf, or scuba-diving. If you require physical fitness to enjoy the activity you will be more inclined to train for it.
Increase your incidental activity!
This is the amount of activity you do in your normal course of your day, the activity not generally classed as exercise. You could: walk to work, take the stairs instead of the elevator, get up to change the channels instead of using the remote, or play with the kids for 15 minutes per day.
Try cross-training!
If your exercise program is always the same then break it up with one session per week of swimming, bike riding, jogging, sprints, or circuits. You could even play a different sport and use it as a training session.
Use a personal trainer!
Personal trainers can provide motivation as well as training variety.
Use an exercise video!
If exercising in public places is not for you, then try training at home. There are many forms of training available on video including: boxing, aerobics, pilates, and yoga.
Just start!
You will always be able to find excuses not to train so don't think about it, just walk out the door.
Listen to music!
Put on the stereo or use a walk-man. Music certainly helps the time go faster.
Watch TV!

Do not reduce calorie intake by more than 500 calories or the body will go into starvation mode. To lose weight a man should be taking in on average no more than 2000 calories and a woman on average no more than 1500 calories. Of course if the daily activity level is really high then calorie intake will need to increase as well.
